In class: Task 3 essay. Please refer to your well-annotated short story "The Outcasts of Poker Flat" by Bret Harte. This will be collected at the close of class tomorrow. Remember that you also have your vocabulary quiz on Thursday. Review today in class.
Once we have finished the power point review of this week's vocabulary, please clear your desk, with the exception of your short story "The Outcasts of Poker Flat" and the graphic organizer from yesterday. If you were not here yesterday, please just take out your story.
Please remember to maintain a test atmosphere. There is to be no talking, and once the Task 3 essay is passed out, we cannot answer any questions. Please read the directions carefully.
New York State Education Department suggests the following times for the 3 hour Common Core ELA Regent Exam on Tuesday, June 14. As we have used a longer text than the 1000 words you should expect on the actual exam, as well as taken class time to annotate the text, all essays will be collected at the close of class tomorrow. Those who receive extra time will have theirs delivered to their resource teachers for completion.
